L-Stance (Fighting Stance)

L-Stance (Niunja -Sogi) is also called the fighting stance. The feet should be placed one and a half shoulder width apart while both feet are turned in 15 degrees. The weight distribution should be 70% on the rear leg and 30% on the front leg. This allows for quick snap kicks on the front leg or powerful kicks from the rear leg.

L-Stance is used from white belt through all the degrees of black belt; it is a fundamental movement in ITF Taekwon-Do and is important to practice until mastered.
